Year One.

“In the end, we’re all just walking each other home.”
-Ras Das
The seasons of marriage experience all weather. Sunny, cloudy, overcast at times you are drowning and at times storms form. Sometimes we are prepared, others times it's unexpected and we have to brave the weather.
Some days in marriage happiness seems very distant. However, in this last year we determined a major pillar in our marriage is joy. Choosing joy is our equalizer and we always center ourselves in joy when needed.
Also, we chose to analyze ourselves (understand triggers, familial experiences, and the successes/failures of our relationship) to find how to best and effectively always return to the center of joy, our equalizer. We also used our examples of love through family, friendship and marriages we have had the blessing to experience.
Each day we choose to put in the work. We work independently on ourselves, we work together and we work with our friends and family to ensure we are operating in wellness. To maintain joy we know you must be healthy. So we prioritize the health of our marriage through boundaries, consistent communication, and respect.
The first year of many.
