We love you…Ronnie Samuel Bracey

Ronnie “PWee” Samuel Bracey

Sunrise: March 21, 1953 - Sunset: September 2, 2023

In a world where many people feel unseen our daddy Ronnie Samuel Bracey always saw and acknowledged others. He would ride the train to visit me in DC. As we were out and about he would speak to every brotha or sista we walked by on the street. His speaking to everyone, led us to a passionate discussion about why he had to speak to everyone. I never got an answer, he only replied: “let me do me.” I acquiesced, but now I get it. PURPOSE.

Pwee understood his assignment. He walked in his purpose. I recall him working at Granddaddy’s restaurant Watergate. The Watergate was the spot. A black-owned thriving restaurant in the 90s. Granddaddy may have owned the Watergate but Daddy was the soul. A bright pearly white smile and warmth was how you were greeted upon entering. PWee was the reason people came on their lunch break and would return later for dinner. He was empowered to shine and share his love of God in a distinct and special way that was unique to him. WORTH.

Bracey poured positivity and strength at every chance he could. I’ve listened to the many of the stories shared from friends and family. I’ve had the opportunity to hear how he touched the lives of others. From working in the coal fields so he could wear Stacy Adams in seventh grade to him being the life of the party. He always instilled worth in others. The way he poured into others it’s evident he knew and felt his worth. Now our dad would have written this message poetically wrapped in a humor only he could deliver. He knew his purpose, He knew his worth. He stood boldly in who he was. Ronnie “PWee” Samuel Bracey kept a promise in his heart. He hand danced on the stage of life until the curtain were drawn.

Thank you Dad for the opportunity to experience you as long as you endured. Thank you to my mom, Sylvia Balmer, for choosing my dad and always loving him. And for you both being perfect examples of love and friendship. And in the words of my support, my loving husband, Julian Muganda, Love you Pops Bracey!

Until we meet again.

Love your first-born daughter,

Tia Amanda Bracey (Muganda)
